ADHESIVES

Choosing an appropriate adhesive requires several considerations: adhesive, surface energy area, substrates, environment, and performance requirements. HST Materials can help you choose the right adhesive based on your application.

Pressure Sensitive Adhesive (PSA) can be applied to stripping, rolls and sheets using a variety of adhesive types, including water-based acrylic, supported and unsupported dry-film and rubber-based contact adhesives.

Acrylic Adhesives
Acrylic adhesives stick well to metals, glass, Polyesters, Polycarbonates and Neoprenes. Acrylics soften when exposed to heat and harden when cooled, achieving their ultimate strength in 48 to 72 hours. They age well in the presence of ozone, ultraviolet light and oxidation. They can be easily removed and reinstalled if the application is done incorrectly because the initial bond or tack strength of acrylic adhesive is low.

Rubber Adhesives
Rubber adhesives adhere well to a wide range of materials, including aluminum, bare metal, stainless steel, Polyolefins, EPDMs and Silicones. They offer a high initial bond or "grab" to a substrate.

Adhesives are often protected by coated release papers available in a variety of thicknesses and weights. The liners are easily removed when ready to apply to the designated surface. Some release liners are ideal for "kiss cut" parts or are designed to eliminate stretching.
